Installing corporate beehives in Caen enables organizations to turn CSR commitments into tangible environmental action across Normandy. Apiterra delivers comprehensive, professional support to ensure safe and engaging urban beekeeping projects.
Caen and its metropolitan area feature a dynamic business ecosystem driven by services, digital innovation, healthcare, and research. Commercial hubs such as the CITIS technology park, the Epopea innovation district, and redeveloped sectors around the Presqu'île provide suitable environments for biodiversity initiatives. Companies and institutions established in the Caen area can use corporate beekeeping as a practical medium to unite employees, enhance corporate sustainability strategies, and visually demonstrate their long-term commitment to the local economy and environment.
Influenced by a mild maritime climate, Caen provides stable weather conditions and staggered blooming cycles from early spring through late summer. The city benefits from extensive green corridors, including the large Prairie parkland, the Jardin des Plantes, the Colline aux Oiseaux, and the riparian zones along the Orne River. These urban parks, combined with Normandy's surrounding hedgerow landscapes, supply honeybees with abundant and varied nectar and pollen resources throughout the foraging season.
From accessible flat rooftops on modern office buildings to landscaped grounds across commercial parks, Caen offers numerous functional locations for corporate apiaries. Hosting beehives enhances site value while visibly supporting corporate sustainability programs. It also creates positive employee engagement opportunities through educational workshops and local honey harvests, reinforcing the organization's role in safeguarding regional biodiversity.
Above all, it brings people together: hive visits, harvest days, the Apiterra mobile app and the Apinews keep every employee involved throughout the year.

Questions about beehives in Caen
Does Caen's coastal oceanic climate affect corporate beehive productivity?
+
Caen's temperate maritime climate provides consistent moisture and mild temperatures, supporting prolonged floral availability. Professional beekeepers select sheltered site locations to protect the hives from prevailing winds, ensuring healthy colony development and safe foraging conditions.
Do you really work in Caen?
+
Yes. Apiterra installs and maintains corporate beehives in Caen and across Normandie, as in the rest of France, Belgium, Luxembourg and Switzerland.
Is there any risk for employees?
+
Hives are installed in places away from passage areas after an on-site study. Bees fly up and out of the apiary and are not interested in people. Apiterra takes care of insurance and all legal obligations.
How much does it cost?
+
Each project is different (number of hives, site, options). Request a quote and we will send you a personalised proposal.
What if we have no rooftop or garden?
+
You can sponsor hives hosted in our Apiterra apiaries and still receive honey and news from your colonies.
